I like this book. I really want to like this book. It covers a lot. And I have been studying it thoroughly. But the book is constantly confusing, because it uses terms on earlier pages that it doesn't define until later pages. It's as if the writer already assumes you know what he's talking about, before he talks about it. Probably because he is so knowledgeable about the lingo, he doesn't recognize he's is doing it. If you want to confuse someone, try to teach them something using terms they don't understand, terms that you have not yet explained. This book is great at it. For example, on page 179 it gives an example for "How to Short a Stock". It refers to a "protective buy-to-cover market stop order" and a "buy-to-cover limit stop order". But types of orders are not covered or defined until the page 213. It would be one thing if this happened in the book infrequently, but this book does this ALL OVER THE PLACE. So you end up jumping all over the place to try to understand what should be a very simple example. In addition, some information is covered multiple times in the book in multiple places, presumably to try to tie things together. Therefore, it seems so disorganized, and it makes a 700 page book read like 1400 pages (you will need to go over it multiple times anyway, and you probably should not matter what book you have - if you're going to be trading your hard earned money). I have no other options trading book to compare it to. So I can't say if there is better. I do know there is a lot of information for me in this book, it just has not been easy to get thru.
This is a great book for anyone interested in learning the craft of options trading. The author is well practiced at writing instructional manuals and this shows in this book. I'm about 2/3 of the way thru the book and, not having had experience or prior knowledge of options, at this point I feel comfortable with at least "paper trading" options to test my ability - which coincidentally is exactly the point in the book where paper trading exercises begin. I have to say, options are not all that complex from a basic understanding, but the jargon and various mathematical variables that describe the option are very complex and, quite frankly, mastering these things is not for everybody, maybe even not for me. I will see shortly as I attempt to apply my learning in a risk free paper trading environment. My only complaint is that I've found several errors in the material, but they are obvious oversights and do not mislead or take away from the learning experience.
It's a decent book on options and trading. It is a very good book for beginners, for me it lacks information on broken wing butterflies and unbalanced condors which are the main kind of trades that I am interested in. I have used the traditional option trades, and they are all difficult to manage when the markets volatility goes up. In my opinion the best kind of option trades are ones where you keep the T plus zero line very flat. It doesn't look like this book goes into this kind of trading. I actually haven't really found any books that go into this in a serious way. To learn more about what I am talking about listen to capital discussions ytube vids on the road trip trade by Dan Harvey, and the space trip trade vids. These kind of trades are the safest type of trades to but on and still make money. This book is good for general option and technical analysis discussions.
I absolutely love this book. It has everything you will ever need for options. It is by far the most comprehensive, all-inclusive options book ever. It is even better than MacMillan, the Bible of Options... Say hello to the new Bible of options. This book has it all.My only disappointment is that this book charges full price for both the Kindle and Paperback... I own the paperback and wanted the Kindle version for quick reference, many books allow you to just pay $1 to $10 and get the Kindle version through Kindle Matchbook... I need to fork out another $50 if I want the kindle version with my paperback version...It’s such a peeve of mine I’m actually willing to deduct a star for it, otherwise this is a 5-star book all the way.
It is comprehensive but goes from beginner to intermediate, with very little advanced concepts. I’m an experienced options trader, making about 50 trades/ day, so it had little to offer me. I kept it because I’m too lazy to return it and my girlfriend listens to my babbling about the market and has a good understanding, so it would be a nice reference book for her
I love how this book is plain English style. Plus covers the whole spectrum of Options. Like an easy to read and reference Options. Definitely worth the price.I wish I would of bought this one before spending Thousands on all the other confusing books, plus taking all the time to search google for answers. Why not just get this book and learn from scratch.Author assumes no previous knowledge, but if you know the basics and want to get a better understanding of Options, before committing hard earned funds to Trading. This book is it.Just buy it, you will be glad you did. Search is over.Thanks for helping me get closer to my Million Dollar Dreams.Happy Retirement Folks. The Game has changed. Better get the facts.
